London Calling: Journey back to my roots and memories of my college days.

London, England

London holds a special place in my heart. It was once my home for several years, and even after being away for half a decade, the city still holds so much charm. Being back in London after five years felt like coming home in some ways, but it was also shocking to see how much has changed. There were new developments in every part of town, and the city seems to have evolved so much.

One of the places that I was most excited to revisit during my trip was my old school, Chelsea College of Art and Design where I studied Interior Design. As I walked through the halls and classrooms, memories came flooding back, and it was so great to be back there again. The familiar sights and sounds of the college brought back a wave of nostalgia that made me remember my time as a college student.

In the years since I graduated, the school has gone through several changes, but it still has that creative energy that I fell in love with when I first enrolled. The school is always busy, vibrant and buzzing with creative energy, with students showcasing their creativity in various forms through exhibitions, portfolio presentations and collaborative projects.

It was also impressive to see that Chelsea College of Art and Design remained committed to community outreach. They have introduced new platforms for like-minded creatives to collaborate and come together, from working with local charities to organizing art exhibitions that showcased the work of emerging artists.

Walking through the campus reminded me of all the long hours I spent working on projects and hanging out in the student common area with classmates or discussing our latest ideas. But the biggest take away was the amazing quality of art and design education that the college offered, which has helped me develop my career and become a leading interior designer today.

Returning to Chelsea College of Art and Design was a reminder of the immense influence that the city of London has had on me. It continues to be a creative hub and a cultural melting pot, home to people from all walks of life. It’s one of the reasons I fell in love with it and why I’ll always consider it a second home.

As I boarded my flight back home, I left with treasured memories, having reconnected with my former college, my friends, and my city. The visit inspired me to explore new ideas and think outside of the box, even as I continue working in the world of interior design. I will surely come back to my Alma matter, Chelsea College of Art and Design, to keep finding inspiration and to share my own story with the next generation of designers, as that’s the beauty of learning and creating: sharing your ideas and creative journey, evolving together and passing it to the next ones.
